1) Posts should be made in the appropriate forums. The Site Administrator is very accessible and if you cannot find an appropriate forum for which you wish to discuss, send him a PM to discuss the possibility of opening such a forum.

2) Politics and Religion are sticky issues. They are not to be discussed outside of a Politics and Religion forum. Such a forum will be created if cause is found to do so. In the meantime, recognize the rights of others to hold their viewpoints, whether political or spiritual, as their own, and not necessarily as viewpoints that need to be 'corrected.'

3) The posting of another person's "real world" information is prohibited. If it needs to be released, the person in question is the only one who may do so.

4) You should not quote any other source that could be conceived as private. This includes e-mails, private messages (PM) or other means of private correspondance. This includes such quotes that were previously released by another independent source.
5) No SPAM. The definition of such is generally understood and is not open for debate. Commercial messages are prohibited without specific permission of the Administrator.

6) NSS Forums is understood to enjoy some rank-awarding posts, but in the spirit of good fun. Attempts to post simply to raise the count excessively (as seen in the viewpoint of the Administrator or Moderator) may result in corrective action.

7) Speak to each other in a mature, friendly, civil and respectful manner.

8) Avoid 'Thread-Jacking." If a topic reminds you of another subject, start a new thread to discuss that subject, rather than hijacking that thread. No one likes to have their question/topic/interest ignored or changed to another. Doing so also makes it unlikely that non-participants in that thread will discover the newer subject, due to the original subject title.

9) Interjections, humorous or otherwise, do distract from the original thread. Be careful to respond not to such interjections or smilies, but pertinent discussions. NSS is aware that sometimes all that is needed is a simple comment, but they shouldn't dominate a thread.

10) No personal attacks. No personal attacks. No personal attacks.

11) Use of foul language is not tolerated. The language censor is activated and moderators are monitoring. Do not try to work your way around this rule, as censorship is not illegal and it will be practiced here.

12) Posts that flame, or seek to inflame, individuals, either by name or inference (as judged by the moderators), will not be tolerated.

13) Carrying grudges or flame wars from other boards, or other forums within NSS, will not be tolerated.

14) Leave problems from other boards on those boards.

15) Libelous or defamatory messages or material, or links to such materials, have no place on NSS Forums. You may not post messages or materials that are obscene, violent, abusive, threatening or designed to harass or intimidate another person.

16) If you provide enough cause to have moderators question your intentions in regards to posting here, your history on the board will be presented to the Administrator and action appropriate to the situation will be considered.

17) If you post material from another board, website, newsgroup and/or other source, please provide appropriate credits. Likewise, please quote the providing source if you pass on information from NSS Forums to another site.

18) Posting as another user is prohibited under all conceivable circumstances.

19) The Administrator and the Moderators have the right to edit or delete any thread and/or post for any reason. There may be no warning and no explanation as to why. The moderators of NSS Forums attempt to employ appropriate and fair guidance when making these decisions, but they may use their own discretion and judgement in editing or deleting posts. Our intention is to keep the Forums clean, tasteful, stress-free and in accordance with this Posting Policy.

20) Opinions, advice and all other information expressed by the forum members are those of the posting member. You rely on such information at your own risk. The Administrator and Moderation Team will NOT be held responsible for the content of any message posted and are not expected to confirm the veracity of any post.

21) While it is appreciated that NSS Forum members may wish to enforce the Posting Policy upon members appearing to be in violation, it is NSS policy to leave such enforcement up to the specific forum Moderator. If a situation develops, please PM the Moderator and/or the Site Administrator and action will be taken in a timely manner. It is presumed that vigilante enforcement tends to aggravate the situation more than direct intervention by the Moderators, so such action will be responded to as well.

22) When a moderator of a forum calls for cessation of any particular sub-topic within a thread (or anywhere in that forum), no further posts need to be or will be posted on that sub-topic. In other words, if a modrator says that the discussion is closed, it is. Clarification, if a poster feels it is warranted, shall only be done via Private Message (PM) with the moderator or, if absolutely necessary, between the two parties via PM.

23) Members are asked to not act as "back seat moderators". If members note an issue which contravenes something in this policy document they are welcome to bring it to the attention of a member of the Moderators Team via PM or e-mail. Members who consistently "act" as moderators may be warned or acted upon.

24) Owners and Moderators of the owned forums have more independent leeway than those of the public forums. If a forum member disagrees with the verdict or ruling of a moderator in an owned forum, the Site Administrator may be invited to become involved, but he may also choose to defer to the specific forum owner.

25) By registering and logging in, you agree to and have accepted the above Posting Policy. Please remember: it is an automatic privilege to be allowed to post here, but the privilege can be revoked. Please do not abuse the privilege.

Edited Policy #19, to allow for editing of any posts by administrators and moderators.

Previously, the rule only mentioned deleting, though, in my POV, the spirit was understood to include editing or deleting of portions of a post.

Edited the complete policy, emphasizing those individual policies that I may choose to enforce on the first violation. While the other policies are important in spirit, the emphasized policies are critical to the health of the board overall.

While I do not promise to take action on the slightest violation of one of these rules, I do reserve the right to judge and interpret a violator based on his/her previous history and the context and content of the violation.

I have also added policy #22, dealing with the orders of a moderator within a forum. Policy #13 has been expanded to include the carrying of grudges between NSS forums. Recent events have made it clear that the power of a moderator must be respected and that some people may not be willing to let past issues go.
